Artist Mary Ellen Long travels from her environmental studio near Durango to the urban neighborhoods of Denver to present on several of her artists' books which explore themes of nature, ritual, process and time. Long's "forest stories" use paper, photography, mixed media, and found materials to document her environmental statements and other subjects such as family, the process of aging, and cultural issues. Some featured artist books include Secrets of the Burn, Forest Stories Grouse, and Sands Signs Symbols. Several of Mary Ellen Long’s works are part of the University Libraries' Fine Press and Artists' Books Collection.
